The month of May saw a return to racing! A month that marks the holy grail of racing. Monaco, The Kentucky Derby, and the Indianapolis 500. Amongst all these Grand jewels sits some rougher gems. The 2021 Indy GP also known as the GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis was one of these rougher jewels. I will say it was still good to hear the roar of the road to Indy cars in the lead up to the main event.

Having an over 6 month break between races can wreak havoc on your soul, but that’s just how it goes when you don’t travel cross country to go to a race. The race was a long and slow parade that saw former Formula One Driver Romain Grosjean start on pole and spend much of the race together prior to the last stint in which he was stuck in traffic and was unable to put on the chase for the lead car of Rinus Veekay.

The atmosphere at the race was not to be forgotten. In the lead up to the green flag I witnessed much akin to events before this pandemic. Fans arguing over who is going to win, music, more fans yelling at each other’s respective drivers nemesis. As this was the case in a bout between a James Hinchcliffe fan and a family of Will Power Supporters. All of this was a welcome break from a world overtaken with Covid-19 and a good omen for things to come.
